WHY?
For nearly 30 years, Les Boréades de Montréal has been committed to bringing Baroque music to the world through faithful interpretation, respecting the rules of early practice and using period instruments. Every year, our artistic director Francis Colpron presents a season of concerts featuring emblematic works from the Baroque repertoire, with the aim of making this timeless music accessible to all.
Les Boréades is also committed to the transmission of this knowledge. The Académie de Musique Ancienne de St Camille has been held every June for the past seven years, offering intensive training in both the Baroque repertoire and instrument-specific playing techniques.
Les Boréades not only pass on their knowledge, but also promote the introduction of Baroque music from an early age, in particular by collaborating with well-known organizations in the field of live music for young audiences, such as Le Moulin à Musique, Théâtre Magasin and Jeunesses Musicales. We intend to continue educating young ears in our future programming, with strong partnerships.
However, despite its richness and beauty, Baroque music is often misunderstood by the general public. It scares people, being wrongly considered as a music reserved for music lovers or an elite.
Our solution is to produce innovative, multidisciplinary creative projects like Transtaïga or Pavane au Swing. Through this genre variation, we bring Baroque music to bear on dance, storytelling and theater. We bring the audience to see something with which they are familiar, to help them discover and appreciate something they know little or nothing about: our music. So we combine our authenticity with more modern elements, capable of captivating a wider audience.
We therefore wish to pursue our mission by maintaining the excellence of our concert season, while offering equally high-quality multidisciplinary and young-audience offerings.
*These donations do not include tickets for the May 23 concert.

Academy of Early Music
Co-founded by Les Boréades and Les Concerts de la Chapelle, the Académie offers intensive three-day training every summer, enabling amateur musicians, music students and professional musicians to deepen both their knowledge of the Baroque repertoire and the playing techniques specific to their instrument.
Each participant benefits from 23 hours of professional coaching, mainly in one of five groups under the direction of one of the experienced musicians/teachers, members of the ensemble Les Boréades.
