Pour délier les doigts et les pieds de son fils aîné, Jean-Sébastien Bach compose entre 1723 et 1729 six Sonates « en trio » pour orgue seul. Le « trio » en question est alors formé par deux mains et une paire de pieds qui se divisent trois lignes mélodiques! Ainsi, quatre membres composent donc un trio imbattable, comme les fameux mousquetaires!
